Hydraulic Fittings & Adaptors

Flow Force Hydraulics supplies hydraulic and industrial hose fittings, adaptors and ferrules for earthmoving machinery, trucks, tractors, farm equipment and workshop plant. We're an authorised seller for our suppliers, and the fittings in this range are the same ones we use on our own repair jobs.

Choosing the right hose fitting

Most fitting problems come down to the thread. Before ordering, check which of these your machine uses:

  • JIC (37° flare): common on American and many Japanese machines. It seals on the flared cone.
  • BSP (BSPP and BSPT): the most common thread on Australian and European equipment. Parallel BSP seals with a bonded washer or cone, and tapered BSPT seals on the thread.
  • ORFS (O-ring face seal): used where leaks can't be tolerated. It seals with an O-ring on a flat face.
  • NPT/NPTF: tapered American pipe thread, often found on pumps and older gear.
  • Metric (DIN light and heavy series): common on European excavators and loaders.

Then match the hose size (dash size, e.g. -04 = 1/4"), the fitting style (straight, 45° or 90°), and whether you need a male or female end, a swivel nut or a tail for crimping. Adaptors let you join two different thread types or change direction without changing the hose.

Industrial vs hydraulic hose fittings

Hydraulic fittings are built for high-pressure oil lines on machinery. Industrial hose fittings cover lower-pressure work such as water, air, fuel and transfer lines, for example camlocks, hose tails and couplings. If you're not sure which you need, send us a photo of the old fitting.

Not sure? Let us make it up

Use our Hose Builder to choose a hose, length and fittings online, and we'll cut and crimp it to order. Need hose as well? See hydraulic hose by the metre. If you can't identify the thread, call 0459 698 249 or book a mobile hose repair and we'll come to you and make the hose on the spot.

Frequently asked questions

How do I tell JIC from BSP?

JIC has a 37° flared cone and UNF threads. BSP is a Whitworth thread with a 60° cone or bonded-washer seal. A thread gauge or a photo sent to us will confirm it.

What's the difference between industrial and hydraulic hose fittings?

Hydraulic fittings suit high-pressure oil lines on machinery. Industrial fittings such as camlocks, hose tails and couplings suit water, air, fuel and transfer lines.

Can I mix fitting brands with a hose?

Fittings should match the hose series and be crimped to the maker's specification. Our Hose Builder only offers matched combinations.

Can you make up a hose for me?

Yes. Use the Hose Builder online, or call 0459 698 249 and we'll make it up for you or come out to the machine.

Where are you based?

We're based in Appin NSW and service the surrounding suburbs, south-east to Wollongong, north through Catherine Field, north-west out to Penrith and Londonderry, and north as far as Hornsby. Further afield on request. We ship Australia-wide.

Can I return a custom hose?

Hoses are cut and crimped to order, so we can't accept returns for wrong selections. This doesn't affect your rights under Australian Consumer Law for faulty workmanship or materials.
